Homemade Fish Fingers recipe

These lovely fish fingers are actually really easy to make and you'll feel super proud of yourself for making them yourself. Serve sandwiched in thick white bread with tomato ketchup for a lovely supper.

  • 300g cod fillet, skinned and boned
  • 2 tbsp. plain flour
  • 1 egg
  • 100g breadcrumbs
  • Pinch paprika or cayenne pepper
  • Pinch dried thyme, salt and pepper
  • 2 tbsp. butter

  1. Heat the butter in a frying pan and add the breadcrumbs, paprika, thyme, salt and pepper. Fry for five minutes or until crisp then drain on kitchen paper.

  2. Beat the egg and place into one dish. Tip the flour into another, and the drained breadcrumbs into another.

  3. Slice the cod fillet into fingers, then dip the fingers first into the flour, shaking to remove excess, then into the egg, then into the breadcrumbs.

  4. Place the fish fingers onto a baking tray and cook for 10 minutes in a 200C oven, turning once.

Add a bit of spice to your fish fingers by adding chilli powder or chilli flakes. This recipe serves 2.
